25th June 2015

You all may have heard about a term in medical science- Organ transplant. In this procedure, an organ from another person is placed in one's body, replacing the faulty organ. The body first oppose that alien organ, fighting with its cells, thus creating a havoc in its own body and making it difficult for the body to accept it. But it is the tendency of the human body- to oppose any foreign invader which comes inside the body...no matter if it benefits you, the body will oppose that. Same thing was happening with Vaishali- she was opposing Pankaj who was entering in her life. After that surgery, Pankaj asked her for a cup of coffee again as a token for his apology. Vaishali couldn't reject his offer as she was already feeling bad about her rude behavior that day.
"I am sorry for what happened this morning." Pankaj said to her and apologized.
"It's OK, I am sorry too for my rudeness, I was kinda lost." Vaishali replied with a smile. She was pretty relaxed after Rahul called her and apologized about what he had done. He said that he knew she wants time and he was okay with that. Life was once again coming back to track for her.
They chatted for some more time and Vaishali found out that Pankaj was very similar to her- Both have the same taste in music, both share the same birth month, both love street food and most of all- they both were passionate about medicine. Though Rahul was also a doctor, and a pretty good one, he never looked the profession more than a job.
"It's just a job- the patient comes to us, we treat them, they pay us money. that's it." Rahul used to tell Vaishali this whenever she talks to him about a certain patient who got cured that day or about her successful operation on a patient which saved his or her life.
"I think I should go home, it was nice talking to you Dr. Pankaj." Vaishali said to him with a smile.
"Hey, we should do this some other time too." Pankaj asked her. He was starting to like this girl.
"I don't think its a good idea, I am committed." She said, smiled at her and left.
Vaishali was starting to get confused now- what was she doing? on one hand she was trying hard to save her relationship. She didn't talk to her male colleagues as Rahul did not like that and on the other hand she was trying hard to avoid Pankaj but they seem to cross their path every time. Pankaj even managed to convince Vaishali thinking for dinner at a beautiful restaurant. She was trying hard to oppose the entry of Dr. Pankaj in her life but it was fate- something which is not under your control.
"Tomorrow I am getting a chance to do an organ transplant surgery, I am so excited about it. But the risks involved are very high. What if the body doesn't accept the organ? What if the organ gets infected? what if..." as Vaishali was telling Rahul about her big surgery tomorrow she got interrupted by Rahul.
"hmmm good, can we talk about this later? I am feeling sleepy. Good night love you."
"But..." before she could say anything, the call was already disconnected.
"Good night, and I love you too." She said to a photograph of Rahul which was kept besides her pillow. She loved him, but she wanted someone who could talk to her, chat with her like crazy insomniacs all night long and someone who could live her passion. Rahul was definitely not that person. Disappointed, she was about to go to sleep when she heard a beep sound on her phone...It was a message from Pankaj.
Pankaj: hi
Vaishali: hi, how are you?
Pankaj: I am good, you tell me.
Vaishali: I am fine.
they chatted like this for what seems like an eternity. they talked about their upcoming surgeries, their families, their futures in medicine field and so on...the topics were endless. In between those chats Vaishali realized that she was trying too hard to fight herself for not letting anyone coming into her life. Maybe befriending Pankaj will not do any harm to her life and maybe the emptiness would be filled, the monotony of her life will be changed if she hangs out with Dr. Pankaj.
"Seems like a nice guy." She said to herself. She once thought of asking Rahul for her permission but later fortified the idea after realizing that he will never approve of having lunch with my co-worker. So next morning, she picked up her phone and messaged Dr. Pankaj--
"Let's go out for dinner tonight."
"Okay, how did the organ transplant go?" the message from Dr. Pankaj put a smile on her face. She knew she was doing the right thing....at least she thought so.
"It went fine, the body accepted the organ finally." she typed and sent the message
