Book Review- First Job and Ten Mistakes by Uttam Kumar

Title: 1st Job and 10 Mistakes
Author- Uttam Kumar
Book type- paperback
Rating: 3.5/5

About the Author- Uttam Kumar has a Masters degree in Mathematics. He has had a liking for writing since his childhood but “First Job and Ten Mistakes” is his first published work. His upcoming books include “The moment of Truth” and “Recruitment Hijacked”.
About The book- First of all, I would like to apologize for posting a late review due to some reasons. I got this book From Author Paradise. Thank you Tushti Bhatia for this book. To start with the book, it is a type of self help books for the people who have just started their first job. It is true that when we have our first paycheck in our hands, first thing we do is to spend the money blindly, without caring for the savings. It also focuses on the use of credit cards—how to use them, and how not to use them. This book is a must read for all the people who just joined their first job and who are about to join their jobs. I won’t comment on the flaws and goods on the writing since it is a book only 45 pages thick. It just basically helps you out with your career planning and how to spend the money. I will give this book 4/5 stars.

Book Review for KLASS- by Prita Yadav

Title: KLASS
Author- Prita Yadav
Book type- paperback
Rating: 3.5/5

KLASS, the title was itself unique and catchy. I got this book from Kamal Paneru. This book starts with the admission of Joelene Jordan into KLASS by her father Kelvin Jordan. Kelvin hates her daughter from the core of his heart and Joelene also has the same sentiments for him. She did not want to study at KLASS so she tries every possible thing to be in the bad books of the teachers and get her out of the prestigious school. Joelene only met her mother twice in her life and she finds some history about her mother which she finds out only when her mother passes away. She finds that her mother wants her to excel at KLASS so she starts transforming herself into a girl with a golden heart. In the process of becoming superstar of KLASS, joelene makes many new friends, enemies and admirers. Overall this story is a bittersweet journey of a girl, longing for parental love and true friendship.
Now coming on the Good things—the story was very well written, language was simple and I could connect very well with the characters as I am also from a sports background. Prita has successfully managed to bind the reader till end, with suspense unfolding at the right time. The title was unique and catchy as I mentioned before and the continuum of the story was also good.
But there are some things that Prita could have improved such as the cover and the blurb of the book. Also too many characters and people sometimes confuse the reader and it results in diverted attention from the reader. Also there were some typos and grammatical errors which I am sure she will take care of in her next book. I was so excited to read her book that I messaged her right after I finished reading—at 1 in the midnight, and to my sheer pleasure she was awake and acknowledged my compliments.

Overall I give this book 3.5 out of 5. I have to deduct .5 for the cover and the little mess and the other 1 for the improvement that I can bet she will do in her next book. This book is worth a read if you are interested in sports or academics or anything you are passionate about. Do read it because ‘A man is lifeless without a passion in his life.’

BEST FRIENDS FOREVER (PART 6)

There is a branch of physics called theoretical physics. They have a theory of multiverse—meaning there is more than a single universe out there, and each universe has its own planet earth in which people like us live. Maybe there is a version of us living in an alternative earth which is born in the house of world’s richest man, maybe some of us in that alternative earth could live with a complete stranger, and maybe in that alternative earth, Ankit and Alia would have never met.
It was indeed very tough for Ankit to not tell Alia about the things that he was trying to hide but he knew that he had to do this for the better.
“Hi.” A voice suddenly pulled him out from the ocean of his thoughts. It was Alia. It is strange that even after you part ways with someone, you feel happiness inside whenever that person comes in front of you.
“What are you doing here?” Ankit tried his best to hide his joy after seeing Alia.
“I assume that I still have the privilege of bidding farewell to you.” Alia replied, with an expressionless face. Of all the things that Alia had least expected in her life, going away from Ankit was the biggest of them. She never thought that Ankit would ever leave her like that and go away. But at times you have to be practical and you have to make choices in life. Ankit was exactly doing that.
“You know it is not goodbye Alia. I am just going away from this place.” Ankit said to her, trying hard not to make her sad.
“You always have an option Ankit.” Alia attempted to convince Ankit for one more time.
“No I don’t.”
“Everyone has a choice.”
“Sometimes the other choice has a price that we can’t afford.”
“I am willing to pay anything to be with you.” Alia replied and came closer to Ankit. He could feel the warmth of her body. He could smell her fragrance. But he realized that he had to be strong at the moment otherwise he will never forgive himself for the rest of his life.
“Ankit, can I ask you for something?” Alia asked him. She knew that Ankit won’t deny her even if she had asked him for his life, and Ankit knew that he could give anything for her.
“You know I can’t stay Alia.” Ankit replied and looked away from her. His eyes were moist and full of tears but he was trying very hard to contain those tears within himself.
“Just give me a hug.” She said with a quivering voice and came closer to him. He just smiled at her and hugged Alia. She felt relaxed, relived and comfortable. She wished that her life could be like this—warm and cozy, in Ankit’s arms, forever. She rested her head on Ankit’s shoulder and continued to cherish the feel of his embrace.
“I won’t ask you to stay Ankit, just tell me the reason of your departure from my life.” Alia asked him, with her head still on his shoulder.
“I’ve told you Alia…”
“That wasn’t the truth, and you know that.” Alia replied, now hugging him even more tightly. With every passing second Ankit was spending with Alia, he was finding it more and more difficult for him to hide things.
“Truth will destroy our lives.” Ankit said.
“If you don’t tell me the truth and leave, then there will be nothing much left in our lives to destroy either. So why don’t let the truth do the work?” Alia said and looked back at Ankit. He knew that she was right, he knew this for the whole time but he didn’t have the courage to tell her the truth, he was afraid that he will be doing injustice to her by telling her the reason behind all this mess but at that moment he realized that the injustice he was doing with Alia was by not telling her the truth. So he muttered all his courage to speak the next few words which were entirely going to change both of their lives. Finally he spoke after a long pause-
“I AM GOING TO DIE.”…

BEST FRIENDS FOREVER (PART 5)

“Yeah right, you said and I followed.” Alia replied sarcastically. She was thinking that he was playing some kind of prank, but pranks generally don’t come along with teary eyes. Alia saw tears in his eyes for the very first time in years.
“You are not joking Ankit, right?” Alia once again asked him but by that time she already knew the answer, Ankit’s silence just completed the formality.
“Did I do something wrong?” Alia asked him, trying to hold back her tears. Ankit was trying hard to behave as he didn’t give a damn to her tears but he too knew that it was impossible for him to do so, but he couldn’t tell her the reason behind all this. He knew that she couldn’t take it. Sometimes, knowing a person too much doesn’t go our way.
“It’s not like that Alia. It’s something different.” Ankit replied, trying hard to look away from her.
“I guess we have a lot of time.” Alia scoffed in disappointment and replied. Ankit looked at her for a moment and looked away.
“I am moving out, we passed our school months ago and now it’s time that we think about our future.” Ankit said in a blunt voice.
“I am thinking about our future.”
“Not ‘our’ future Alia, it’s time that you and I chase our dreams, our ambitions. We have different expectations from our lives. I want to do something big, something which would engrave my name in golden letters upon the path of success.” He replied, trying to be slightly ‘more selfish’ than ever.
“You want to leave this place? You want to leave me, just because you want to make your career? That doesn’t make sense.” Alia replied, she was sensing something more in this conversation…something that Ankit was still trying hard to hide from her.
“It’s time for it to make sense.” Ankit replied and turned away from her.
“Tell me the true reason behind this Ankit, and I promise we will sort something out.” Alia said with her voice trembling. Ankit too felt that he was doing no good by telling her the truth, she deserves to know everything, and so he gave a long sigh and said-
“Alia, you and I love each other and there is no denying in that. But I don’t feel like I belong here. From the day you told me that you love me, I wasn’t feeling like myself. It’s not like that I don’t love you…I do, but loving someone and being in a relationship with someone are two different things. I can’t be in a relationship with you Alia. In fact, I cannot be in a relationship with anyone. I am not made for relationships.”
“What do you want to do then?” Alia asked Ankit. She was devastated, how could someone not be? The only person in this world, whom you care for, suddenly turns away from you without any proper reason, it is obvious to be disheartened. But Alia was trying hard not to break down into tears in front of Ankit because deep inside she knew that Ankit was never in the relationship. He was doubtful about this relationship from the very first day. It was Alia who thought that she could manage to pull this relationship on her own but she failed to realize that Ankit was going away from her—not as a lover, but also as a friend.
“I want to go away from this place Alia. I want to go away from this place. I want to explore the world, I want to get out from the circumscribed life I am living right now.” Ankit said with tears in his eyes. It was heart crushing for him to push away Alia from her life but he has to do it—for both of their sakes. Ankit waited for some moments, anticipating a reply from Alia but all he got was silence, which was accompanied by footsteps moving away from him, from his life. Sometimes telling the truth is not a good option, and Ankit had just realized this thing. He stood there for some moments and then walked towards his home. He didn’t even try to call Alia, he knew that the damage has been done. As he entered inside the house, he saw his mother waiting for him.
“Where have you been son, I was worried for you.” Ankit’s mother said to him in a worried tone.
“I was with Alia.” He replied without looking at her. She sensed that he just took the most heart-wrenching decision of his life, she knew that he did the right thing.
“Did you tell her the truth?” Ankit’s mother asked him.
“No, I didn’t.” he replied and walked away.
